What is PM KUSUM?

PM KUSUM (Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan) is a flagship scheme launched by the Government of India to promote solar energy among farmers.

As an authorized implementation partner, Digi Connect Services facilitates the enrollment and execution of PM KUSUM scheme components across agricultural communities in South India.

The scheme aims to provide financial and water security to farmers by harnessing solar power for irrigation, reducing dependence on grid electricity and diesel pumps, while also creating additional income sources.

Scheme Objectives

"To provide energy security to farmers, reduce the carbon footprint of agriculture, and generate additional income through renewable energy adoption."

Three Components of PM KUSUM

Component A

10,000 MW decentralized ground-mounted solar power plants

Component B

Installation of 20 lakh standalone solar agriculture pumps

Component C

Solarisation of 15 lakh grid-connected agriculture pumps

Scheme Components in Detail

Comprehensive support for different agricultural energy needs

Component A

Decentralized Solar Plants

Setting up of 10,000 MW decentralized ground-mounted grid-connected renewable energy power plants on barren/fallow land.

  • Individual plants up to 2 MW
  • On barren/fallow land
  • Grid-connected systems
  • Farmers as energy producers

Component B

Standalone Solar Pumps

Installation of 20 lakh standalone solar agriculture pumps for farmers not connected to the grid or with unreliable supply.

  • Off-grid solar pumps
  • Individual farmer ownership
  • No grid connection needed
  • Reliable irrigation power

Component C

Grid-Connected Pump Solarisation

Solarisation of 15 lakh existing grid-connected agriculture pumps allowing farmers to sell surplus power to DISCOMs.

  • Existing pump conversion
  • Grid-interactive systems
  • Surplus power sale
  • Dual income source
